Winter is here and our dogs need to be kept warm when they are ourside.  There is no reason not to be fashionable while going for a walk in the neighborhood.

People will say that their dog doesn't like to wear clothes, but this is rarely true.  They have to be comfortable and the outfit fit right and they have to see a good reason to wear them.  First is the fit, if you buy something that you think you will love and it doesn't fit and binds, you will never wear it.  Dogs feel the same, so be sure to buy quality products and check to see that they fit correctly.  The other common mistake is putting something on your small dog and then standing back and laughing at him.  Why in the world would he want to wear something that gets that reaction?  Put the item on him when you are going somewhere and he can get positive feedback.  Many times it's best to wait until you get there and then put it on and immediately take him out of the car and show him off.  He will love the attention and giving him a small treat to go with it can seal the deal!  Never leave your dog alone with an item on unless you are sure that he will be ok with it.  Make it fun for your best friend to dress up and be warm this winter and you'll see that he will love it too.
